‘INS Vikrant Gave Sleepless Nights To Pakistan’: PM Modi During Diwali Address To Navy
In a spirited Diwali address to the Indian Navy, PM Modi praised the country’s growing maritime strength and the indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, calling it a symbol of national pride and a reminder of India’s expanding defence capabilities. The aircraft carrier, designed by the Indian Navy’s Directorate of Naval Design and built at Cochin Shipyard Limited, represents a milestone achievement — making India one of the few nations capable of building such a complex warship indigenously.
The Prime Minister noted that the commissioning of INS Vikrant in 2022 marked a defining moment in the country’s naval history, not only enhancing India’s defence readiness but also strengthening its position as a dominant maritime power in the Indian Ocean Region. “INS Vikrant is not just a warship; it’s a message to the world that India can design, build, and command the seas with its own strength,” he said.

During his interaction with Navy officers and sailors, PM Modi praised their role in safeguarding the nation’s maritime borders and ensuring peace in the Indian Ocean. He emphasized that India’s naval expansion was crucial to national security and global stability. “In today’s changing world order, India’s Navy is not just a protector of our coastline — it is a force that ensures freedom of navigation, stability, and peace in international waters,” the Prime Minister remarked.

INS Vikrant, capable of operating 30 aircraft including MiG-29K fighter jets and advanced helicopters, provides the Navy with unmatched mobility and operational flexibility. Its deployment strengthens India’s deterrence capability and signals a clear strategic message to adversaries.

In a candid and assertive remark, PM Modi recalled how Pakistan was troubled by India’s growing naval dominance, particularly after the induction of INS Vikrant.
